Beginning February 1, Capital One Venture X and Venture X Business cardholders will notice significant changes in lounge access. Previously, cardholders could bring a guest without extra charges, but now those privileges will come at a cost. A fee of $125 per year will be imposed for each additional cardholder wishing to gain lounge access. Guests will incur charges as well, amounting to $45 for each adult and $25 for guests aged 17 or younger.
To retain complimentary guest privileges, primary cardholders must now spend a minimum of $75,000 annually. This spending requirement is aimed at limiting access and maintaining a premium atmosphere within the lounges.
Capital One has recognized the surge in popularity of airport lounges, leading to frequent wait times for entry. In a statement, the company emphasized the importance of preserving a high-quality experience for cardholders while providing premium travel options at reasonable prices.
Similar to actions taken by American Express two years ago, these measures are designed to ensure exclusivity and comfort in their lounges.

The Capital One Venture X card, with an annual fee of $395, is notably lower than some competitors, like American Express’s Platinum card at $695.
